Choose the right lavender varieties for your garden based on your local climate to ensure successful growth.
Lavender thrives the best in well-drained soil, sandy or loamy soil that allows water to drain away easily. If your soil is heavy or clayey, you can improve drainage by mixing in sand or gravel.
Make sure to space the seedlings about 18 to 24 inches apart to give them room to grow. Dig a hole that is a little larger than the seedling’s root ball. Press the soil gently around the seedling.
Lavender doesn’t need a lot of water. Water the seedlings once a week, but let the soil dry out between waterings.
Regular maintenance is important to keep your lavender healthy. Pruning helps the plant grow better and prevents it from becoming too woody.
Make sure your soil drains well and avoid watering from above to reduce the risk of fungal diseases.
The best time to harvest is when the flowers are fully open, as they will have the strongest fragrance. Use clean scissors or pruning shears to cut the flower stems.
