Former Maharashtra Chief Minister and senior Shiv Sena leader Manohar Joshi passed away on February 23 after he suffered a cardiac arrest.
Here are some interesting things you need to know about former Maharashtra CM.
Joshi was the Chief Minister of Maharashtra from 1995 to 1999 and the Speaker of the Lok Sabha from 2002 to 2004.
He was also a Member of the Rajya Sabha from 2006 to 2012 and served as the Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises from 1999 to 2002.
He started his political journey with his affiliation with RSS and later transitioned into Shiv Sena.
Joshi was renowned for organisational acumen and emerged as a prominent figure within the Shiv Sena in the 1980s.
In the 1999 general elections, Joshi won from the Mumbai North-Central Lok Sabha Constituency as a Shiv Sena candidate, and was later Union minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises.
