Sleeping well is essential to overall health and wellbeing. If you have trouble falling asleep at night, try inculcating these habits…

Consistent sleep schedule: Go to bed and wake up at the same time every day, even on weekends. This helps regulate your body's internal clock.

Relaxing bedtime routine: Wind down with a calming pre-sleep routine that includes a warm bath, gentle stretching , reading and/or meditation.

No screens: Avoid screens (phones, tablets, computers) at least an hour before bedtime as the blue light can interfere with your body's production of melatonin, a hormone that regulates sleep.

Avoid large meals before bed: Avoid large meals close to bedtime. For better digestion, eat at least an hour or two before you turn in.

Comfortable environment: Invest in a good quality mattress and pillows. Keep your bedroom dark, cool and quiet for optimal sleep.

Limit naps: Limit the number of naps you take throughout the day. If you do nap, keep the duration short to avoid interfering with nighttime sleep.

Exercise: Regular exercise can lead to deeper and more restful sleep. Staying active reduces stress and anxiety, both of which are common causes of sleep disturbances.
