3. Many studies have shown that the beta-glucan fiber in oats is effective at reducing both total and LDL (bad) cholesterol levels which increases risks of heart attacks.
4. Oats are likely to improve insulin sensitivity and help lower blood sugar levels because of the soluble fiber beta-glucan present in it.
5. Oatmeal also helps in losing weight because it makes you feel fuller by slowing down digestion, increasing production of satiety hormones.
6. Research suggests that oats may help prevent asthma development in children when fed to young infants, but it debatable.
7. Oat bran, the fiber-rich outer layer of the grain, may help relieve constipation, studies suggest.
8. Oats may help lower blood sugar levels, especially in people with obesity or who have type 2 diabetes.
9. Oats contain large amounts of beta-glucan, a type of soluble fiber which increases the growth of good bacteria in the digestive tract.
