Anant Ambani announced the launch of a one-of-a-kind star forest programme in the green belt of Reliance’s Jamnagar Refinery Complex in Gujarat.

The focus of the forest programme is the rescue, treatment, care and rehabilitation of injured animals in India as well as abroad.

The Greens Zoological, Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre is one of the most advanced facilities in the world for rescue and welfare of animals, said Anant Ambani.

Under the programme, more than 200 elephants and thousands of other animals, reptiles and birds have so far been rescued from unsafe situations.

Vantara has an elephant centre that has scientifically designed day and night enclosures, hydrotherapy pools, water bodies and a large elephant jacuzzi for treating arthritis in elephants.

Vantara aims to partner with the Zoo Authority of India and other relevant government organisations to improve all the 150-plus zoos in India, Anant said.

The rehab centre has a 1 lakh sq ft hospital and medical research centre equipped with advanced technology and an ICU, MRI, CT scan, ultrasound, endoscopy.

Vantara also plans to collaborate with educational institutions for raising awareness among people about animal rescue and setting new standards in compassion and care of animals.
