The Supreme Court on January 3, 2024, rejected the petitioners' appeal to transfer the Adani-Hindenburg case to the CBI, leaving the probe with the SEBI. Here are some key takeaways from the judgment.
Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud ruled out any conflict of interest.
SC directs SEBI to complete remaining 2 probes (out of a total 24) in 3 months.
The apex court also asked SEBI to look for any "infractions" by the US-based short seller Hindenburg and make/take suitable action.
The court says that SEBI will take the probe to a logical conclusion.

The SC report by third parties cannot be treated as conclusive proof.
SC said SEBI and the Government to consider Expert Committee recommendations on strengthening of the regulatory framework.
