Fruits have a plethora of nutrients that are highly beneficial for our body. However, some people also opt for consuming fresh fruit juices instead of fruits.
While there are advantages of consuming fruits whole, there are no known benefits of drinking them in the form of juices. So, is it really worth the squeeze?
According to nutritionist Loveleen Batra, one of the main problems of drinking fruit juice is that they are high in calories and having them can cause an unusual spike in sugar levels.
Fruit juices also lack fibre which is important for digestive health. Without fibre, the sugar in fruit juice is absorbed into the blood more rapidly.
When you turn a fruit into juice, you also lower the nutrient value of it. In addition, it juices also contribute to an excess in calories.
According to Batra, fruit juices also increase cravings and also have high acid content.
