Australian pacer Pat Cummins recorded his second consecutive hat-trick of the T20 World Cup 2024 in their Super Eight match vs Afghanistan on Sunday.
However, his efforts proved in vain as Afghanistan got the better of the Aussies, beating them by 21 runs at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown.
Cummins dismissed Rashid Khan in 17.6 overs, and then picked Karim Janat and Gulbadin Naib in 19.1 and 19.2 overs.
He finished with figures of 3-28 (4), but could have had a fourth wicket to his name if David Warner hadn't dropped Nangeyalia Kharote at deep mid-wicket.
Cummins scored his first T20 World Cup hat-trick this year at Australia's previous fixture against Bangladesh on Friday.
He dismissed Mahmudullah and Mahedi Hasan in 17.5 and 17.6 overs and then Towhid Hridoy in 19.1 overs.
Cummins was named the player of the match for his figures of 3/29 in 4 overs, as Australia clinched win by 28 runs.
