AIIMS Delhi issues 7-point SOP for handling suspected Mpox cases

AIIMS Delhi has issued a seven-point standard operating procedure (SOP) for handling suspected Mpox patients.

Screening

Flag patients with fever, rash, or exposure to Mpox for immediate assessment; check for symptoms such as fever, headache, muscle aches, swollen lymph nodes, and skin lesions.

Isolation Area

Isolate patients in designated AB-7 Beds 33-37 until transfer to Safdarjung Hospital, as directed by the Emergency CMO and the Medicine department.

Notification to IDSP

Notify IDSP at 8745011784 with patient details, history, and clinical findings upon identifying a suspected case.

Referral to Safdarjung Hospital

Refer suspected mpox patients to Safdarjung Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Ambulance

Use the dedicated ambulance by notifying the coordinator at 8929683898 to transfer suspected cases to Safdarjung Hospital.

Patient Handling and Isolation

Ensure strict infection control with PPE for staff when handling suspected mpox cases.

Documentation and Communication

Maintain accurate documentation of patient details, symptoms, and the referral process.
