Alstom, a French multinational rolling stock manufacturer, announced on February 19 that the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has received the first indigenously made trainset for Meerut Metro.

The Meerut Metro is an urban Mass Rapid Transit System that would connect Partapur and Modipuram via 11 stops on Line-1, which spans 25 km.

For the convenience of Meerut residents, three stations on this line will connect to India's first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), which connects Delhi and Meerut.

According to the statement, Alstom will supply 30 coaches to service the route in a configuration of 10 trainsets of three cars each.

In a statement, the company stated that the trainset delivery is part of a contract signed by Alstom in 2020 to deliver 210 cars for the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS).
