This is a popular Punjabi dish made with black lentils, kidney beans, and a rich blend of spices. Try this Amritsari dal makhani recipe at home.
Ingredients Black Lentils - 1 cup Kidney Beans - 1/4 cup Oil - 2 tbsp Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tbsp Onion, Finely Chopped - 1 Tomato Puree - 1 cup Red Chili Powder - 1 tsp Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp Garam Masala - 1 tsp Cream - 2 tbsp Butter - 2 tbsp Fresh Coriander Leaves - As required Salt - As per taste
Step 1 Wash and soak the black lentils and kidney beans overnight.
Step 2 Pressure cook the lentils and beans until soft and mushy.
Step 3 In a separate pan, heat oil and add cumin seeds, ginger-garlic paste, and chopped onions. Saute until golden brown.
Step 4 Add tomato puree, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and garam masala. Cook until the oil separates from the masala. Add the cooked lentils and beans to the masala and simmer for some time.
Step 5 Add cream and butter, and cook for another 5 minutes. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with naan or ric
