Armed Forces

Flag Day

Purpose:

Armed Forces Flag Day is dedicated to collecting funds for the welfare of the armed forces personnel, including the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force

Date:

The day is observed on December 7th every year as on this day in 1949 that the Indian armed forces secured a historic victory over Pakistan in the Indo-Pak War

Flag:

The day is symbolized by the sale of red, navy blue, and light blue-colored flags and are distributed to the public, and are encouraged to display these flags

Fundraising:

The funds collected through the sale of flags are utilized for the welfare of war widows, disabled soldiers, and other dependents of the armed forces personnel

Events and Ceremonies:

Different events, parades, and ceremonies are organized across the country to pay homage to the armed forces

Participation:

The participation of schools, colleges, and other educational institutions is encouraged to instill a sense of patriotism and respect for the armed forces among the younger generation

Government Involvement:

Various ministries, departments, and organizations in the Government of India actively participates in the observance of Armed Forces Flag Day to ensure the success of the fundraising
