Sweet and tangy toor dal made Gujarati style with potatoes and peanuts, try this authentic recipe at home.
Toor dal, boiled - 1 cup Smashed ginger - 2 tsp Green chillies - 2 Jaggery - 1 tbsp Kokum - 3 pieces Coriander leaves, chopped - 1 tbsp Peanuts - 3 tbsp Potatoes, boiled/chopped - 2 Salt - As per taste
Ghee - 1 tbsp Bay leaves - 2 Ground red chillies - 3 Cumin seeds - 1 tsp Mustard seeds - 1 tsp Cinnamon stick - 1 Cloves - 2 Methi dana - 1/2 tsp Kasoori methi - 2 tsp Curry leaves - 4 Tomato, chopped - 1 Sugar - 1/2 tsp Salt - As per taste Turmeric - 1 tsp Dhaniya powder - 1.5 tsp Coriander leaves - For garnishing
Add the boiled toor dal with water in a wok. Add the ginger, green chillies, jaggery, kokum, coriander leaves, peanuts, potatoes, and salt. Cover and let it simmer till starts to thicken.
Heat some ghee in a pan, add bay leaves, boria mirch, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, cinnamon, cloves, methi dana, kasoori methi, and curry leaves.
Add the tomatoes, sugar, salt, turmeric, and coriander powder. Cook it for some time.
Add this to the simmering dal. Cook for some time.
Garnish with chopped coriander leaves. Serve hot.
