Ingredients
Black rice (Kavuni arisi) - 1 cupGram flour - 1/4 cupRed chilli powder - 1 tspGhee - 2 tbspAsafoetida - 1/4 tbspWhite sesame seeds - 1 tbspOil - For deep fryingSalt - As per tasteWater - As required
Wash the black rice. Soak the rice for a few hours.
Step 1
Drain the water and let the black rice dry completely. Now, grind the black rice to a fine powder in a blender.
Step 2
Add the powdered black rice, gram flour, asafoetida, sesame seeds, red chilli powder, salt and ghee in a bowl and mix well. Add water as required, and knead it to make a soft dough.
Step 3
Use a murukku mould, fill the prepared dough in, and press to get the perfect shape as you squeeze it into oil for frying.
Step 4
Fry from both sides evenly. Drain out the extra oil with tissue paper. Serve hot.
