On February 28, 2025, the Lahaul & Spiti Police issued an Orange Alert (Danger Level 3), warning of potential avalanches on extreme slopes and advising travelers to remain cautious while navigating snow-covered regions.

Authorities have urged travelers to stay on designated safe routes, avoid risky areas, and refrain from venturing off marked trails, as heavy snow accumulation has significantly increased the chances of avalanches in the region.

A massive avalanche struck Badrinath Dham, trapping 57 workers on the National Highway near Mana. The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) camp and nearby construction sites suffered significant damage.
Ongoing heavy snowfall is hindering rescue operations, and authorities have advised travelers to avoid the Chamoli region until further notice as the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) leads relief efforts.

The Srinagar-Jammu and Srinagar-Ladakh highways remain blocked due to snowfall and landslides, severely affecting transportation.
