How BCCI registered a 116 per cent jump in surplus income in IPL 2023

The BCCI registered a staggering 116 percent jump in surpus income in the 2023 Indian Premier League, in which Chennai Super Kings won their fifth title

The biggest contributor to this growth was their media rights income, which witnessed a surge of 131 per cent to Rs 8,744 crore

Also adding to the surplus income is the title sponsorship going to the Tata Group for Rs 2,500 crore for a five-year period besides associate sponsorships

Also raking in the big bucks for BCCI is the WPL, which began in 2023 and has generated a surplus of Rs 377 crore

BCCI’s income rose dramatically despite costs also soaring during this period, with the BCCI’s expenditure for staging the IPL going up by 66 per cent to Rs 6,648 crore in 2023
