Bengali-Style Mustard Fish Curry Recipe
Take 750g of Rohu fish and chop it into medium size.
Add 1 tsp red chilli powder, a pinch of turmeric, salt and 1 tbsp mustard oil.
Mix gently with your hands to ensure the ingredients are evenly coated.
Leave it to marinate for at least 15 minutes.
Soak 1/2 cup black mustard seeds in water along with 1 dried red chili.
Prepare a mustard paste: Blend soaked mustard seeds, salt and green chilies.
Heat 4 tbsp of mustard oil in a pan and fry the coated fish pieces slowly.
Add 1 tsp of kalonji, 1/2 tsp of turmeric and mustard paste to the same oil.
Cook until oil separates and then add the fried fish pieces.
As the gravy thickens, add 4 cups of hot water and cook on low flame.
