Settled off the Kerala coast, Lakshadweep translates to ‘a hundred thousand islands’. Currently, it's a group of 36 atolls and coral reefs and is popular for its preserved ecology and water sports.

Although Lakshadweep enjoys pleasant weather all round the year., according to its tourism department, the best time to visit it is from October to mid May.

1. Also known as Andrott island, Andretti is the largest island of the Lakshadweep archipelago. The island is popular for its ancient Buddhist remains.

2. Agatti is the only island with an airport that makes travelling to Lakshadweep extremely convenient. It is one of the few inhabited islands of the archipelago.

3. Kalpeni or Koefaini is popular for the enormous bay of coral debris believed to be deposited by a violent storm in 1847.
