Bharat Ratna to Narasimha Rao, Chaudhary Charan Singh and more

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to X to announce that former prime ministers Choudhary Charan Singh, Narasimha Rao and agricultural scientist Dr. MS Swaminathan will be honoured with the Bharat Ratna.

PM Modi lauded the leadership of PV Narasimha Rao and highlighted India's foreign policy, language and education sectors in his tenure. 

In honour of Chaudhary Charan Singh, PM Modi highlighted that he had dedicated his whole life to the rights and welfare of the farmers.

Prime Minister declared Bharat Ratna for Dr. Mankombu Sambasivan Swaminathan in honour of his unparalleled contributions to Indian agriculture and farmers' welfare.

Earlier, PM Modi announced that Lal Krishna Advani will be conferred the Bharat Ratna.

The Prime Minister praised Advani's monumental contribution and his role as Home Minister and I&B minister.

Modi also announced Bharat Ratna for former Bihar Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur.

Bharat Ratna is India's highest civilian honor.
