Bird Flu outbreak reported in Kerala

Bird flu outbreak reported in two places in this district, officials confirmed  on Thursday.

Avoid close contact with infected or suspected birds and animals, including their droppings, saliva, and  other secretions.

Refrain from consuming raw, uncooked, or partially cooked poultry products such as chickens and eggs; cooking at a temperature of at least 70°C for half an hour effectively kills the bird flu virus, ensuring food safety.

Disease confirmed after samples sent to Bhopal lab; tested positive for avian influenza (H5N1). District Collector chaired meeting to initiate culling within one-kilometer radius as per Govt. of India's action plan. No need for panic; district administration assures no transmission to humans.
