BMW has introduced the new S 1000 XR in India, replacing the 2020 model. The updated bike boasts enhancements in design, performance, and features and will be imported as completely built units.
The S 1000 XR features the in-line 4-cylinder engine from the iconic S 1000 RR. BMW has reworked the motor to produce 170hp at 11,000rpm and 114Nm at 9,250rpm, a 5hp increase from the previous model.
BMW claims the S 1000 XR can go from 0-100kph in 3.25 seconds and reach a top speed of 253kph, showcasing its enhanced performance capabilities.
The design updates include replacing the black beak fender with a body-coloured one and new side panels and air intakes inspired by motorsport, giving the bike a fresh look.
The seat has been redesigned for better comfort during track riding and touring. It now stands at 850mm high and can be adjusted to a lower height for convenience.
The S 1000 XR offers additional equipment based on the chosen package: Touring, Dynamics, or M. Touring and Dynamics packages come as standard, while the M package is an optional extra.
The standard Touring package includes a luggage carrier, centre stand, navigation slot, hand protection, tyre-pressure monitoring, and heated grips, enhancing touring capabilities.
The Dynamics package, also standard, includes dynamic ESA pro, shift assistant pro, and cruise control, providing advanced riding dynamics and convenience.
The optional M package includes an M Sport seat, M Endurance chain, M GPS-Laptrigger, sports silencer, tinted windscreen, M lightweight battery, and M Carbon wheels. It adds ₹2.50 lakh to the standard price.
The new S 1000 XR is priced at ₹22.50 lakh (ex-showroom India), which is ₹40,000 more than the outgoing model. It will compete with the Ducati Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak and the upcoming Ducati Multistrada V4 RS.
