The BMW M 1000 XR, the third bike in BMW’s performance-based M line-up, is now available in India.
The M 1000 XR is based on the BMW S 1000 XR, a tall sport tourer or crossover style of motorcycle.
The M model gets an engine derived from the S 1000 RR superbike, producing 201hp and 113Nm.
The bike features a larger rear sprocket and shorter gear ratios for harder acceleration, with a 0-100kph time of 3.2s.
XR gets a bigger set of wings, new livery, sporty electronic suspension, and M brakes from the M 1000 RR.
The ergonomics are revised for a sportier connection, but handlebar and footpeg placement remain comfortable.
The M 1000 XR is filled with electronic rider assists, including multiple riding modes, launch control, and a pitlane speed limiter.
The bike also features creature comforts like heated grips, cruise control, and tyre pressure monitoring.
In India, we get the M Competition version, which includes carbon fibre wheels, billet M footrests, and an M GPS lap timer.
Priced at ₹45 lakh (ex-showroom, India), the M 1000 XR sits between the M 1000 R and the M 1000 RR.
