BMW has revealed the R20 Concept motorcycle, showcasing a unique Boxer-engined street bike. The design promises a distinctive presence on the roads.
The R20 Concept features an impressive engine, derived from the R18's 1,800cc Boxer, now upgraded to a 2,000cc air and oil-cooled powerhouse, the largest Boxer ever by BMW.
The upgraded engine includes new cylinder head covers, a new belt cover, and a new oil cooler, enhancing both performance and aesthetics.
The R20 Concept’s design is a seamless blend of form and function, featuring a double-loop main frame and fully adjustable Ohlins Blackline suspension, ensuring a robust yet sleek structure.
Unlike the R18, the R20 Concept boasts a 62.5-degree steering head angle and a shorter 1,550mm wheelbase, promising agile handling and a sporty feel.
The bike rides on 17-inch wire spoke front wheels with a 120/70 tyre and a 17-inch black disc rear wheel with a 200/55 tyre, ensuring a balanced and commanding ride.
Braking is managed by twin discs with six-piston callipers at the front and a single disc with a four-pot setup at the rear, providing exceptional stopping power.
The R20 Concept features minimal yet meticulously detailed bodywork, including a uniquely shaped fuel tank in a striking "hotter than pink" colour.
The floating seat design, integrated with tail lights and seamlessly extending from the fuel tank, highlights BMW's attention to detail and innovation.
The front headlight cluster features a 3D printed aluminium ring with an integrated DRL, showcasing cutting-edge technology and intricate design elements.
BMW often transitions its concept bikes into production, hinting that the R20 Concept could evolve into a new Boxer-engined roadster, joining the lineup alongside the R Nine T in a few years.
