Britain’s royal line of succession: Who’s next in line to the throne after King Charles III

The Buckingham Palace on February 6 confirmed that King Charles III has been diagnosed with a form of cancer and has begun treatment.

The 75-year-old king, has decided to postpone public-facing duties during the treatment period & is positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible.

King Charles III, the eldest son of late Queen Elizabeth II, became king immediately after his mother’s death. Let’s take a look at Britain’s line of succession.

The eldest son of King Charles and Late Diana, Princess of Wales, Prince William is first in line to the throne. Formerly the Duke of Cambridge, William is now known as the Prince of Wales.

Elder son of Prince William and Kate Middleton, Prince George is second in line to the throne, after his father.

Youngest child of Prince William and Kate Middleton, Prince Louis is fourth in line to the throne, after his father and two siblings.

Younger son of King Charles III and Late Diana, Prince Harry is fifth in line to throne. In January 2020, Prince Harry and his wife, US actress Meghan Markle, stepped back as “senior” royals.

Son of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Prince Archie is sixth in line to the throne. Prince Archie was previously styled as “Master Archie untbatten-Windsor” and was not given a title. He’s now known as Prince Archie of Sussex.

Second child of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Princess Lilibet is seventh in line to the throne. Like her brother, she too was not given a title and was styled as “Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor”. She’s now known as Princess Lilibet of Sussex.

The third child of the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Andrew is eighth in line to the throne. He stepped away from royal duties in 2019.
