"Minorities in our country, and specially our Muslim community, are being provoked. CAA cannot snatch away anyone's citizenship because there is no provision in the Act. CAA is an act to provide citizenship to refugees who were persecuted in Bangladesh and Pakistan," Amit Shah had said.
“They are asking for your father’s birth certificate. Do you have your father’s birth certificate? I don’t have one. Those who are jumping with joy, read the Act and see how dangerous it is. You will be marked a refugee, then your property, your house, your basic rights will be taken away, few will get citizenship but the remaining will be sent to a detention camp,” Mamata Banerjee claimed.
"There are 3.5 crore minorities in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. The BJP wants to spend the money of our people in settling poor migrants from Pakistan and Bangladesh by giving them houses and jobs here," charged Kejriwal, who is also the Aam Aadmi Party national convener.
"The fact is that it took four years and three months to promulgate these rules. The law was passed in December 2019, it was a controversial law because citizenship is never based on religion, it goes against the Constitution. Citizenship based on religion is not part of our constitutional principles or constitutional values," says Jairam Ramesh.
"PM Modi has fulfilled India's resolution to lawfully give citizenship to those who have come to India due to religious persecution. Mamata Bandopadhyay (Banerjee) will instigate some communities for vote-bank politics but every Indian knows that this decision of PM Modi is justifiable and humane." said Smriti Irani.
"CAA grants citizenship; it does not take it away. It provides citizenship to minorities in neighbouring countries who are persecuted, raped, and forced to convert religion and marry. There are many people in the country who have been waiting for citizenship for the past 70 years, which was not granted by Congress and has finally been enacted by BJP," said Anurag Thakur.
