"Eating too much sugar causes diabetes."  Fact: Eating sugary foods does not directly cause diabetes but can contribute to weight gain and increase the risk of type 2 diabetes

"People with diabetes can't eat carbohydrates." Fact: Carbohydrates are part of a balanced diet. People with diabetes need to manage their carbohydrate intake, not avoid them entirely

"Only older adults get diabetes." Fact: Diabetes can develop at any age, including in children and young adults. The prevalence of type 2 diabetes is increasing in younger populations due to lifestyle factors
