India will celebrate its 78th Independence Day on August 15, 2024. But did you know that there are four other nations who share their Independence Day with India. Take a look:
South Korea gained independence on August 15th, 1945, which marked the conclusion of World War II in Asia.
Observed as National Liberation Day, this marks the Korean peninsula's freedom from Japanese occupation by US and Soviet forces. Independent Korean governments were established three years later.
The Republic of Congo gained full independence from France on August 15th, 1960.
This significant event is celebrated as Congolese National Day, marking the end of 80 years of colonial domination.
The sixth smallest nation of the world, Liechtenstein gained liberation from German rule on August 15, 1866.
Although, the tradition to celebrate August 15th as its National Day began since 1940.
Bahrain celebrates its National Day on December 16 each year, but the country gained independence from British rule on August 15, 1971.
This significant milestone came after a United Nations survey of the Bahraini population. After this the country signed a new treaty of friendship with Britain.
