Union Health Ministry on April 3, 2023, said India recorded a single-day jump of 1,830 COVID-19 infections.

The number of active cases in the country increased to 20,219. The death toll climbed to 5,30,892 with seven deaths in the last 24 hours.

One death each was reported from Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala and Rajasthan, while Maharashtra saw three causalities.

At 20,219, the active cases comprise 0.04% of the total infections. The national COVID-19 recovery rate was 98.77%.

The daily positivity rate stood at 2.87% and the weekly positivity rate at 2.24%.

According to the ministry's website, 220.66 crore doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered so far.

Delhi Total active cases: 1,395 New infections: 179

Maharashtra Total active cases: 3,488 New infections: 164

Karnataka Total active cases: 1,410 New infections: 151

Haryana Total active cases: 747 New infections: 145

Goa Total active cases: 680 New infections: 79

Uttar Pradesh Total active cases: 486 New infections: 65

In most of these states, the last seven days' total was three times higher than the previous seven-day tally.

Delhi recorded 429 fresh Covid cases on Sunday, the highest in more than seven months.

India Inc. has also started enforcing stricter measures in response to an increase in COVID-19 cases.
