World Health Organization (WHO) on May 5 stated that while Covid-19 is still considered a global health threat, it is no longer categorised as a public health emergency.

Despite a drastic 95% decrease in Covid-related deaths worldwide since January, the disease still remains a significant cause of death.

According to WHO Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus, Covid-19 was responsible for taking a life every three minutes during the previous week.

India has recorded around 30,000 active Covid cases, a significant reduction in numbers. But , many individuals continue to experience lingering symptoms weeks after their Covid or viral infection.

LocalCircles conducted a survey where participants were asked about the symptoms that one or more of their family members were experiencing within the last 45 days following their Covid or viral infection.

The survey discovered that a significant 56% of Delhi-NCR residents reported suffering from a persistent cough.

22% complained of lingering breathlessness.

22% of the respondents faced lingering fatigue.

11% of the participants suffered from lingering cold.

11% complained of lingering joint pain.

11% suffered from lingering chest inflammation

11% reported suffering of lingering stuttering.

Over 10,000 residents of Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Faridabad participated in the survey. Of the respondents, 64% were men, while 36% were women.
