David Warner Surpasses Tendulkar's World Cup Record

David Warner shatters Tendulkar's record to become fastest batter to breach 1000-run mark

Warner achieved the milestone during Australia’s World Cup 2023 opener against India in Chennai on Sunday

The Australia opener set the incredible feat having played in 19 innings

Warner reached the milestone by slamming a boundary off Hardik Pandya’s delivery

The record was previously held by Tendulkar and AB de Villiers

Both Tendulkar and De Villiers required 20 innings each to jointly hold the record

Warner also became just the fourth Australian batter to reach the 1,000-run mark in ODI World Cups

Warner joined an elite list, comprising Ricky Ponting, Adam Gilchrist and Mark Waugh

The 36-year-old was dismissed for 41 during the match against India

Despite Warner’s record-breaking knock, Australia lost the match by 6 wickets.
