Aadi Mahotsav, India's National Tribal Festival is being hosted in Delhi from February 16 to February 27, 2023.
The tribal festival is showcased at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium near India Gate.
The entry to the festival which celebrates tribal culture, cuisine, commerce and traditional arts, is absolutely free.
Entry for the general public on February 16 began from 2:00pm after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's remarks.
From February 17 onwards, gates to the festival will open at 10 am for the public and last entry will be at 8 pm.
The tribal festival features over 200 stalls highlighting the diversity of India's indigenous population.
About 1,000 artisans from 28 states and union territories are displaying and selling handicrafts, handloom, pottery and jewellery at the event.
39 Van Dhan Vikas Kendras from 17 states and UTs are also participating.
Highlighting the Centre's International Year of Millets initiative, Aadi Mahotsav hasa special focus on "Shree Anna" or millets grown by tribal communities.
The festival also features exquisite handcrafted jewelry from the North-east and the unique Dokra style, fine textiles and weaves, and Pashmina shawls.
Cultural performances by 500 tribal artists from about 20 states have also been scheduled.
Food lovers can experience tribal cuisine from across the country at the 20 food stalls set up by tribal cooks from 19 states and union territories.
Visitors can try various dishes including thapdi roti, madwa roti, litti chokha, mahua laddu, sabudana vada, and Adivasi laddu, among others.
Visitors can also buy different staple varieties like scented joha rice from Assam and black pepper from Thandwi farmers etc. at the event.
The tribal festival also showcases lac jewellery, Moonj Grass basketry and blue pottery from Jaipur, paintings, and more.
