Delicious Halwa Puri Recipe You Must Try

A quick, easy, and delicious halwa with puris is a perfect combo to nosh on. Here's a step-by-step guide to making halwa puri at home.

Ingredients for halwa

Ghee - 1/2 cup Sooji (semolina) - 1 cup Sugar - 1 cup Cardamom - 1 tsp Milk - 1 cup Dry fruits - 3 tbsp

Ingredients for puri

Whole wheat flour - 2 cups Water (as needed for kneading) Ghee - 4 tsp Salt - 1 tsp Oil (for deep frying)

Step 1

For halwa, take ghee in a pan, and add sooji to it. Stir the sooji with the ghee thoroughly.

Step 2

Add sugar and cardamom and mix them well.

Step 3

Now add milk and dry fruits. Whisk them thoroughly. Cover the pan for a while and let the mixture boil

After some time, open the pan and mix thoroughly. Add some ghee and more dry fruits to the halwa and mix well.

Step 5

For puri, rub the `ghee' into the flour, add salt, and knead into a stiffish dough with the water.

Cover the dough and leave to rest, for at least 30 minutes.

Roll out the puris. Heat the oil and when a piece of dough comes up at once, put the puri into the oil.

Step 8

It will come up at once, press gently with a slotted spoon in the center, so that it puffs up.

Step 9

Turn it over and fry till a light brown on both sides. Switch off the gas stove, and use an absorbent paper to remove extra oil from puris.

Step 10

Serve hot halwa with puris and top it with chopped dry fruits.
