Dhanraj Pillay: Hockey Stats And Post-Retirement Life

Dhanraj Pillay earned more than 350 caps while representing the team Indian, making him one of the most capped players in Indian hockey history.

Pillay competed in four Olympic Games - Barcelona (1992), Atlanta (1996), Sydney (2000), Athens (2004). India finished at eighth position at Atlanta, and at seventh in all the other three.

Dhanraj Pillay participated in multiple Asian Games, winning gold medal in the 1998 Bangkok edition and silver medal in the 2002 Busan edition.

Pillay represented India in numerous Champions Trophy tournaments, with the team winning a silver medal at Cologne (2002) and bronze medal at Berlin (1995).

Dhanraj Pillay played a crucial role in India's silver medal win at the 2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games, and gold medal win at the 2003 Kuala Lumpur Asia Cup. 

Pillay has been honored with  the Arjuna Award (1995), Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award (1999), and the Padma Shri (2000) for his contributions to Indian hockey.

After retiring from professional hockey, Dhanraj Pillay has been actively involved in promoting and developing the sport in India. He has dedicated his time to mentoring young hockey players in India.

Pillay has been involved in Indian hockey administration. He was a member of the Hockey India selection committee and the ad-hoc committee of the Indian Hockey Federation.

Pillay has worked as a hockey commentator for TV, providing insights of major hockey events. His commentary skills and knowledge of the game have made him a respected figure in the field.
