India A’s Dhruv Jurel matched former India skipper MS Dhoni's record in the Duleep Trophy tournament on Sunday.
Jurel now shares the record for the most catches taken by a wicket-keeper in an innings at the Duleep Trophy with MSD.
Dhoni first set the record when he represented the East Zone in the 2004-05 season of the Duleep Trophy.
Jurel went on to match that during India A’s opening fixture in the 2024-25 edition against India B in Bengaluru.
The wicket-keeper has already made an impressive Test debut during the recently concluded home series against England.
In the three Tests he had featured in, he scored 190 runs at an average of 63.33 with one half-century to his name.
However, he has yet to score big with the bat in the Duleep Trophy to secure his selection call for India’s upcoming Tests.
