One of India’s finest wicketkeeper batters, Dinesh Karthik, decided to call time on his career on June 1  (Sat).

He posted a heartfelt note regarding his announcement on social media, along with a video of his cricketing journey.

He thanked his fans, writing, "My deepest gratitude and sincere thanks to all the fans who have made this feeling possible."

At about 17 years of age, DK went on to make his first-class debut for his state Tamil Nadu.

In just two years, he debuted for the country at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in England in 2004.

Despite fighting with MS Dhoni for the wicketkeeper spot in Team Indian, DK successfully made a legacy of his own.

He was part of the Indian squad that won the inaugural T20 World Cup 2007 and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy.

As for the IPL, he was part of it in all its 17 editions, representing six franchises, starting with Delhi Daredevils (in 2008) and ending with RCB (in 2024).
