Diwali 2023 marked a record-breaking festive spend in India, with trade hitting an all-time high of Rs 3.75 lakh crore, according to the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT).

Fruits worth Rs 2,000 crore were sold across India on Diwali.

13% of the festive spend was on food and grocery.

Jewellery Joy

9% of the festive spend was on jewellery.

Textile Triumph

12% of the festive spend was on textiles and garments.

Sweet Success

4% of the festive spend was on dry fruits, sweets and Namkeen.

Decor Delight

3% of the festive spend was on home decor.

Cosmetic Charm

6% of the festive spend was on cosmetics.

Electronic Euphoria

8% of the festive spend was on electronics & mobiles.

Pooja Purchases

3% of the festive spend was on Pooja Samagri & similar Items.

Kitchen Kudos

3% of the festive spend was on utensils & kitchen appliances.

Confectionery Craze

2% of the festive spend was on confectionery & bakery.

Gift Glory

8% of the festive spend was on gift items.

Furniture Fervour

4% of the festive spend was on furnishings & furniture.

Miscellaneous Magic

Remaining 20% was spent on automobiles, hardware, electrical, toys and other goods and services.

Upcoming Festivals

Upcoming festivals of Govardhan Pooja, Bhai Dooj, Chhath Puja, Tulsi Vivah may attract collective trade of Rs 50,000 crore.
