Here’s a list of places to visit in this mystical land:

Kedarnath Temple

Near Mandakini river, Kedarnath temple is one of the twelve jyotirlingas and major shrines of Panch Kedar and was believed to be built by Pandavas after they found the hump of the bull Shiva was disguised as.

Rudranath Temple

Located at a height of 2,286 meters above sea level, legend says the Rudranath Temple was built by the Pandavas. Dedicated to Shiva, this temple falls in the Panch Kedar pilgrimage circuit.

Kalimath

A small town located at a height of 1800 meters, Kalimath is one of the Shakti Peeths dedicated to Sati.

Bhairavnath Temple

Also known as Bhairon Nath, this temple is next to Kedarnath temple and is dedicated to Bhairava, one of Shiva’s incarnations.

Gauri Kund Temple

It is believed that Parvati performed penance for Shiva at this sacred spot. Pandavas are also said to have visited this place in search of Shiva. Gauri Kund temple holds a lot of significance for devotees of Shiva and Parvati.

Chorabari Tal

Part of Mahatma Gandhi’s ashes were immersed here, and legend says that Shiva, as the first guru, imparted the knowledge of Yoga to Saptrish at this beautiful glacial lake.
