Easy Punjabi-Style Chana Saag Recipe

Ingredients

Chana saag 500 gm Green moong dal 2 tbsp Green chillies 5 Garlic cloves 8 Ginger (chopped) 1 tsp Onion (chopped)  1 Tomato (chopped) 1 Besan 1.5 tbsp Mustard oil 1 tbsp Whole red chillies 2 Red chilli powder 1/2 tsp Haldi 1/4 tsp Coriander powder 1/2 tsp Salt (according to taste)

Step 1

Wash and cut the chana saag leaves. Keep them aside.

Step 2

Wash the green moong dal. Now, boil water in a pressure cooker, add the lentils and allow them to cook for some time.

Step 3

Once done, add the chana saag leaves and allow them to cook.

Step 4

Meanwhile, add green chillies, garlic and ginger in a blender and make a smooth paste.

Step 5

Keep stirring the greens with the help of a ladle in between.

Step 6

Now, add the paste, mix well and let it cook on low flame.

Step 7

Take gram flour in a bowl and mix some water to make a slurry add it to the greens and mix. Stir the greens continuously with a ladle.

Step 8

For tempering, heat mustard oil in a pan. Add onion to it and let it cook for a few seconds. Add finely chopped garlic to it and let it turn golden.

Step 9

After some time, add whole red chillies and finely chopped tomatoes and let them cook. Add salt, red chili, and coriander powder as per taste and cook.

Step 10

After the tempering is ready, mix it in the greens. Cook the greens for some time and turn off the gas.

Step 11

Punjabi-style chana saag is ready. Pour ghee and serve it with chapatis.
