Ingredients 1 cup sabudana ½ cup ghee ½ cup oil ½ teaspoon cumin seeds ½ mustard seeds ½ teaspoon turmeric powder 1 teaspoon peanuts Chopped green chillies Chopped onions Curry leaves Chopped coriander leaves
Wash one cup of sabudana and put it in a bowl. Pour some water into it and let it sit for two to three hours.
Take a pan, keep it on the stove and add 2 teaspoons of ghee and 1 teaspoon of oil.
When the oil-ghee mixture is heated well, add half a teaspoon of mustard seeds as well as the cumin seeds and 1 teaspoon of peanuts, and fry well.
After some time, add the green chillies, onion and some curry leaves and fry again.
Once the mix is cooked well, add the soaked sabudana to it. Then add the salt as per your taste and mix it well.
Cover the mixture with a pan and let it cook for five to eight minutes.
While the sabudana-veggie mix is cooking, take a small pan and add a quarter of peanuts to it for frying. When it is done, peel off the peanuts and grind them into a fine powder.
This powder is to be then mixed with the sabudana mix, along with 1 teaspoon of lemon juice and chopped coriander.
10. After mixing it, remove the pan from the stove and transfer the cooked dish to a bowl. The sabudana upma is ready to be eaten.
