Dhanteras 2023:  The dos and don’ts to attract wealth and prosperity

Lakshmi puja, on Dhanteras, should be performed during Pradosh Kaal, the two hours immediately following sunset.

Do not buy sharp instruments such as knives, scissors, or needles. They are considered unlucky and can diminish your riches and happiness.

Goddess Lakshmi likes a clean and tidy environment. Clean your house and puja room to attract the deity of fortune.

Don’t sell anything on Dhanteras. It is a day of buying and increasing your wealth, not decreasing it.

Purchase brooms. They are a symbol of the Goddess Lakshmi. Purchasing idols of Ganesha and Lakshmi, as well as gold and silver coins, is also regarded as auspicious on this day.

Feed chapati and jaggery to a cow as a form of worship. In Hinduism, the cow is regarded sacred and a source of wealth.

Don't donate rice to charity. Rice is a staple food and a symbol of wealth. Giving it away can have a negative impact on your fortune and luck.

Offer medicine to the sick and needy. Lord Dhanvantri is the god of medicine and health. Helping others will please him and bring you blessings.

Avoid eating anything that isn't vegetarian or tamasic, such as eggs, garlic, or onions. They are considered impure and can lower your consciousness.

Buy salt on this day and use it for Diwali cooking. Salt represents purity and protection. It also eliminates negative energy in the home.

Don’t leave any corner of your house dark. Light lamps and candles everywhere to welcome the goddess and dispel the darkness.

Recite Goddess Lakshmi's and Lord Kuber's mantras. They are the wealth and prosperity deities. Chanting their names will bring them blessings and abundance.

Do not consume alcohol or gamble.
