Michel Platini (Right) is third with three Ballon d'Or's 

\Johan Cruyff, the Dutch legend, is fourth with same number of Ballon d'Or's as Platini

Marco van Basten has also won a hat-trick of Ballon d'Or's 

Franz Beckenbauer won the award twice, in 1972 and 1976  

The same goes with Ronaldo Nazario, who won the award in 1997 and 2002 

Real Madrid legend Alfredo di Stefano won the Ballon d'Or in 1957 and 1959

Kevin Keegan won the award in consecutive years in 1978 and 1979

Former German international Karl-Heinz Rummenigge won the award in 1980 and 1981
