From Athens to Paris, these 8 cities have hosted the Olympics more than once

London, UK  London is the only city to host the Summer Olympics thrice. They have hosted the event in 1908, 1948 and 2012.

Tokyo, Japan Japan's Tokyo has hosted the games twice in 1964 and 2020. In 1964, Japan embarked on an ambitious economic plan and built and renovated venues. Expressways and bullet trains were also constructed during this time.

Athens, Greece The birthplace of Olympics has hosted the event twice. It hosted the Games in 1896 and again in 2004. In 1896, the event was held at the Panathenaic Stadium, the only Olympic stadium of the 1800s. The stadium had been constructed in 330 BC but was rehabilitated for the Games.

Paris, France The City of Love has a long association with the Olympic Games. In addition to this year’s event, it has hosted the Games in 1900 and 1924.

St. Moritz, Switzerland This city hosted the Winter Olympics twice in 1928 and 1948. Swiss athletes have won a total of 181 medals at the Summer Olympic Games, and another 127 at the Winter Olympic Games.

Lake Placid, USA Located in USA's New York, Lake Placid has hosted the Winter Olympics twice in 1932 and 1980. It is known as a Winter Olympics venue and a hub for snow sports and other outdoor pursuits.

Beijing, China China's Beijing has hosted the Olympic Games twice — the Summer event in 2008 and Winter Games in 2022.

Los Angeles, USA  The city in the US has hosted the Games twice in the past — 1932 and 1948. It will also host the next Olympics, scheduled for 2028.
