British shooter Nathan Hales has set a new Olympic record.
He secured gold at the Paris Olympic Games.
Hales overcame Chinese shooter Qi Ying who claimed silver in Paris with 44 shots.
Guatemala’s Jean Pierre Brol Cardenas finished behind Hales and Ying to clinch bronze.
Hales’ medal also ended Britain’s 12-year wait for a gold in shooting.
Peter Wilson had sealed the previous shooting gold at the 2012 Olympics in the men’s double trap event.
Hales’ medal was Great Britain’s first gold in the men’s trap event since 1968.
He hit 48 shots out of 50 to surpass the previous 43.
Hales currently holds both the Olympic and World records.
He had hit the target 49 times to script the world record in Italy.
