Hand Foot Mouth is defined as a common virus amongst children which causes sores as the disease indicates on the hands, feet & mouth area.

The incubation period of this virus is anywhere between 2 to 7 days.

A highly contagious disease, it spreads by direct contact & through respiratory secretions. Children need to be isolated for a period of 7-10 days or as much as the doctor indicates.

While majority of the cases are not serious & there are no long-term consequences -- high fever, persistent fever or any unusual symptoms need to be watched out for & reported to doctors right away.

There is no vaccine for hand foot mouth.
