More than 100 people lost their lives when a stampede broke out at a satsang by religious preacher Bhole Baba, near Phulrai village in the Sikandar Rau area on July 2, 2024.
Around 2.5 lakh people gathered for the event even when the permission was granted only for 80,000 people, PTI reported. Here’s what you can do if you are stuck in a potential stampede:
Go with the flow. Don't fight the crowd. Keep a firm footing and, during a lull, move diagonally to the edge.
IF YOU ARE PUSHED
Don't bend down to pick it up. Let it go, as getting back up will be very difficult.
YOU DROP YOUR PHONE
Check if the barrier is easy to climb. If not, move away from it. Avoid being pinned against walls or pillars, as it is dangerous.
YOU ARE PUSHED TOWARDS A BARRIER
Curl into a ball, turn left, and protect your head. Stay calm and try to get up as soon as you can. Avoid lying on your back or stomach.
