The number of people suffering from high blood pressure (BP) in India dropped to 23% from 24% in 2022, with 48% senior citizens suffering from BP, revealed GOQii India Fit Report 2024.
The report highlighted that men are more prone to high blood pressure with 26% men suffering high BP compared to women at 20%. Let’s take a look at some tips highlighted in the report to lower high BP:
Achieve ideal body weight as per your height
Get 30 minutes of moderate physical activity 5 days a week
Eat foods that are low in saturated fat, total fat, and cholesterol
Use more spices and less salt
Eat salad and fruits to improve potassium intake
Avoid bakery items and refined grains
Manage stress
Alcohol only in moderation
Quit smoking
Take prescribed drugs as directed by the doctor
