Traditionally, Holi has been celebrated outdoors and one way to reduce exposure of colours to pets is to keep them indoors during the celebrations.
Pets can be protected from coming in contact with the colours used during the celebrations by dressing them with bandanas and scarves.
It is advised to use organic colours that are produced using flowers and vegetables which can be sprinkled on pets since they don’t contain harmful chemical content.
Ensure ponds or lakes are not contaminated with harmful chemicals from Holi colours as animals often drink from these sources and can cause serious health issues.
Organise post-celebration cleanup drives to remove debris from streets and public areas. This helps prevent animals from ingesting harmful substances.
For stray animals, consider setting up temporary shelters or safe zones where they can seek refuge during Holi.
