How to identify Childhood Trauma

Aggression or Withdrawal: Children who have experienced trauma may display heightened aggression or withdrawal from social interactions

Acting Out: Behavioral problems, disobedience, or acting out beyond typical child behavior can be a sign

Intense Emotions: Extreme emotions such as anger, fear, or sadness that seem disproportionate to the situation

Difficulty Trusting Others: A lack of trust in others and difficulty forming healthy relationships

Reverting to Earlier Behaviors: Displaying behaviors typical of younger ages, such as bedwetting or thumb-sucking, when they had previously outgrown them

Avoiding Triggers: Children may go to great lengths to avoid situations or people that remind them of the traumatic event

Recurrent Nightmares: Frequent nightmares or night terrors related to the trauma
