How to Make Banarasi Red Chilli Pickle at Home
Banarasi-style red chilli pickle is spicy and makes for the perfect accompaniment for your Indian meals.
Large red chiillies 15 Mustard seeds 2tbsp Fennel seeds 3 tbsp Fenugreek seeds 2 tbsp Cumin seeds 1 tbsp Black peppercorns 8 Asafoetida 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder 1/2 tbsp Mango powder 3 tbsp Lemon juice 2 Mustard oil 2 tbsp Salt (According to taste)
Ingredients
Wash the red chillies, let them dry, remove their stems and deseed them.
Step 1
Make slits in the middle of the chillies with a knife.
Step 2
Dry roast all the whole spices and let them cool down. Grind into a coarse powder.
Step 3
Add salt, spice powders, lemon juice and around 4 tbsp of heated and cooled mustard oil. Mix well.
Step 4
Stuff the masala powder in the chillies and store it in a glass jar. Pour the rest of the mustard oil.
Step 5
Keep in sunlight for 5-6 days to mature.
