Ignored for WC, Concussion Substitute Rescues Australia

Producer:  Feroz Khan

Marnus Labuschagne has sent down a timely reminder to Australia selectors

Labuschagne engineered a memorable rescue act to help his team to a comeback win vs South Africa

South Africa had reduced Australia to a sorry 93/6 after being bowled out for 222 in the 1st ODI

To add to Australia's woes, Cameron Green had earlier in the chase retired hurt with a concussion

Labuschagne was called in as concussion substitute and walked in to bat at No. 7

And he resurrected the five-time ODI world champions' chase with a fighting half-century

Together with No 9 Ashton Agar (48*), he added 112 runs for the eighth wicket

Labuschagne remained unbeaten on 80 off 93 as Australia overhauled the target in 40.2 overs

Labuschagne didn't find a place in Australia's 15-man squad for the 2023 ODI World Cup

The performance means he would be the first name to be considered if there's a need for replacement
